On the morning of July 13, we pulled out of the Manzanita Lake campground in Lassen and headed west to catch Interstate 5-- and then south to Modesto. About 15 miles south of Willows is the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge, which offers a six-mile auto tour. Wildlife viewing (from your auto) is best between October and February. Hot and dry in July-- nevertheless, we did see some 'wildlife...'
