As I understand it... A full grown cape buffalo has little to fear from predators. A small, defenseless newborn does, however, by not having the imposing bulk of its parents. What provoked the stallion zebra to attack the buffalo calf? Probably the strong scent eminating from its still-wet coat. Perhaps the zebra fears that this strong scent will attract predators that like zebra meat too. Zebra thinking: take out the Cape Buffalo calf by snatching it away from its parents and stomping it to death...
