After yet another hearty breakfast, we left Haughton Hall in Shifnal and drove and drove across the border into Wales to the town of Botws-y-Cote. I noticed some changes from England. The signs along and on the road had words in both English and Welsh, like SLOW and ARAF. There were also more rock walls everywhere along the road and stretched out over the countryside. It was a lot hillier as well, and more mountainous in the distance.

We parked in Botws-y-Cote, found some lunch a local cafe, and hiked a couple of miles up a rather steep forest road to Lyn (lake) Elsi. From there we took the trail around the picturesque lake for about two miles before heading back down the trail to town. Taking a different route, we walked by a remote country house with a beautiful horse grazing in an adjacent pasture, then followed the Severn river one way and the road the other to get back to the JellyBean to check in at the LLety Betws B & B. Our room was on the second floor with 3-panel window offering an excellent view of the surrounding hills and countryside.
