Having rented a car at the Portland Jetport, we cruised north on Highway 1 along the coast of Maine. Now, Maine's coast is different than California's. It is made up of peninsulas with harbors, inlets, and coves in between. So if you want to see the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, you drive out a peninsula, look, and drive back. We stopped in the town of Damariscotta to have lunch. There is a lake of the same name to the northwest. This is a river which flows from that lake under a bridge as you enter town from the south.
