Somesville Walking Bridge... most photographed bridge in Maine. Somesville is one the earliest settlements on Mount Desert Island. In 1761, 22 yr old Abraham Somes sailed north from Gloucester, Massachusetts, and built a log cabin on the shore of this harbor. The Selectmen's Building next to the bridge was built in 1790. The bridge itself was built in the 1960's.
