The extreme tide fluctuations off the Maine coast were also evident from the deck of our vacation rental. Early on the morning of fourth day, I saw the rock just breaking the surface of the water, enough for these cormorants to hang out. Other times the tide was high enough to engulf the rock. I would not know how big the rock was until another day... another time of the day... (another morning - an afternoon - another afternoon)
