Return to U.S.

We woke up about 6 AM (Iceland time) to pack up for our flight back to the U.S. 25 hours later, we would be home.. The goal was to stay awake so we would not have jet lag. Our flight from Reykjavik was 5:55 PM... 11 AM California time. We would be catching the shuttle to the airport in the early afternoon. So Susan and Henry, and Peggy and I went for a walk along the Laugarnes coastline of Reykjavik.

One of the most enjoyable sights was the eccentric home of Hrafn Gunnlaugsson, the director of the film, "The Raven Flies". His home is made of completely recycled materials and surrounded by homemade artwork and statues.

We visited the botanical gardens again and walked by Laugardalsvöllur, Iceland's national football (soccer) stadium, with a seating capacity of 9,800. Then it was time to head back to the hotel an catch our shuttle to Keflavik Airport to begin our journey home.
